Sarathfonsekacdsinner4Gen .Sarath Fonseka delivering a special lecture today (24)at Colombo said there is nothing untoward in an Army Officer taking to politics. Gen. Fonseka who was the Chief guest at a function organized by certified Professional Managers at the Taj hotel, while speaking under the them e ‘Can do’ for Managers made that declaration noted in the foregoing paragraph. He was giving answers to questions he posed to himself. If a Grama sevaka officer, a Teacher, a doctor, an engineer or for that matter any other can, why cannot an army Officer take to politics, Gen. Fonseka asked. All of them are human beings. They have families. They are all in the same society. They all studied in the same schools. Then I do not see any difference between them and an Army Officer entering politics, he noted. If you become a Govt. leader, what should you do to solve the nation’s problems? Can you solve those problems? Can you fortify the national security? Can you establish a Police fOrce sand political interference? Can everyone who is qualified enter University? Today, in our country only 1% enters University. Can the health facilities in the big Towns be extended to the villages? Can you assure that every city has a good School? Can every Sarasavi scholar be provided with the necessary abode? Gen. Fonseka after asking these questions, said these are the challenges we are facing. We can accomplish them .By eradicating corruption we can provide the necessary health facilities, education and security to the Nation, he observed.
